The Questions That Reveal What We Really Believe

As we look back at our earlier updates in March 2026, there are some very powerful, hard-hitting, and frankly inconvenient questions we have asked.

They are not comfortable questions.

They are not the kind of questions most people want to face after a long week, or in the middle of trying to survive the pressures, distractions, and demands of ordinary life.

But they are crucial.

99% of people will never honestly and genuinely ask these questions, let alone answer them. Yet if we are to live honestly, grow properly, and begin to realise our God-given potential, then we cannot keep avoiding them.

As Friedrich Nietzsche put it:

“The strength of a person's spirit would then be measured by how much 'truth' he could tolerate, or more precisely, to what extent he needs to have it diluted, disguised, sweetened, muted, falsified.”

That quote should stop us in our tracks.

Because the question is not merely whether the truth exists.

The question is whether we are willing to face it without needing it diluted, disguised, sweetened, muted, or falsified.

Here are those questions.

We would strongly encourage you to take the time to reflect on them and sit with them properly. Even if you are short of time, it doesn’t have to be hours. Even 15 minutes of honest reflection can make a profound difference in your life.

What does this world promise us, time after time, if we just trust in it?

Who is the biggest scammer in your life?

Why aren’t more of us outraged and indignant that we have been scammed out of a true education?

Would you still be a Christian if Christianity were illegal?

Or if you’re not a Christian, but you believe there are only two genders and that became a crime, would you stick to your belief?

Is the Establishment taking the best from you?

These are not abstract questions.

They are not intellectual exercises to make us sound thoughtful or provocative.

They go right to the heart of who we are, what we worship, what we fear, what we tolerate, and what we are prepared to sacrifice for the truth.

The more we pursue these questions, the more we can and will appreciate just how arduous, painful, horrifying, and yet ultimately rewarding this journey to optimise and maximise our lives can be.

Because real growth does not begin with comfort.

It begins with truth.

Thank you for this powerful article. I have learned a great deal about truth from Paul S. Waugh, and in doing so have come to realise that there is still far more I don’t know than I do know. Thanks to his work and that of Lighthouse, we have continued in the pursuit of truth and, through that pursuit, have come to know our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

These are critical questions that we all ought to be asking ourselves from a very young age. Thank you.

I am expecting Christianity to become illegal to one day in the UK. That would be a huge test of my faith. There’s no doubt to that, but increasingly I am realising how empty, void, dark, evil and dying this world is. I would pray for the strength that I would love and commit whatever I have to Jesus Christ, the One true living God. I’ve seen in the underground churches in China, people risking their lives to not only worship, but evangelise too. I would want to develop the resources and capability to have the God-given, and currently legal right to worship God. I have no intention to violate laws, only to put God first in my life.

Thank you for this update. The quote from Nietzsche is indeed very hard hitting! When speaking as a concept, “the truth” is actually quite mentally palatable. When when it comes to inconvenient truths about myself or something that I am invested it, I see how much that quote actually applies!

The questions you have asked are huge. Why? Because they are questions that are not easy to answer, and they also require honesty. I say that because, in answering these questions, we are confirming something to God; if we lie, He will know. Thank you for putting these together and sharing them with us all…

Very powerful questions to consider and to answer for ones self.
Getting to the root of what we each believe is a crucial discipline to learn and to develop so that we can know when we are being lied to and how to discover the truth.

Thank you for these questions and for shining more light on what it takes to optimise our lives. I love this quote from Nietzsche: “The strength of a person’s spirit would then be measured by how much ‘truth’ he could tolerate.”

It shows how crucial it is to have people in our lives who point out where we are deluded or under illusions, and who help us to grow and recognise where we’ve been wrong. This journey is definitely not comfortable, but it is rewarding, and it helps us to see who we really are as human beings. God bless.

These are some hard-hitting questions that accompany hard-hitting truths. What I have been learning is that it’s all too easy to say we’re dedicated to truth, but actually being dedicated to truth when it’s inconvenient and painful becomes the acid test.

I’m praying for my character to be forged and regenerated in order to be able to seek truth, even when it’s not convenient and it’s painful. That is only possible with and through Christ.

Such a vital article. I think often in today’s culture especially with social media, not only is truth muddied but lies can be championed and those who don’t agree with those lies can be tarred and feathered for telling the truth. The likes of the BBC will weaponise their brand as trustworthy or impartial to lie and tell some very untrustworthy and outright evil things, while scamming the viewers who don’t know who to trust. We need to have a firm foundation to stand on. THE truth because in the end, when it comes down to it, nothing else will stand.

Imagine if we had been educated to ask questions like this of ourselves and really encouraged to ask, seek, knock as the Bible tells us to? Imagine if we had been raised to become truly inquisitive and intellectually curious and empowered individuals, rather than to be passive answerers of questions predetermined and set out for us by the Establishment system? Doesn’t it say so much to the fact that we haven’t been! That question: Why aren’t more of us outraged and indignant that we have been scammed out of a true education? is a very pertinent and important one!

Thank you for these questions, questions that the Establishment would never want the public to ask of themselves. These are empowering questions that take us out of our conditioned compliance to the Establishment and receiving an education like this, is one of the reasons they came after Paul and Lighthouse.

This really resonated with me. These questions cut beneath the surface and challenge the beliefs we often take for granted. I appreciate how they encourage honest self examination rather than easy answers, and remind us that genuine growth begins with the courage to face uncomfortable realities.
